What will the weather be?... and we all agree :-)

What will the weather be? September is the peak month for hurricanes in the Caribbean, and travelers are concerned about their chances for good weather.

The reality is that while September is a month with the most storms in the area, these are spread out and the number of sunny days will outnumber the rainy days. Furthermore, while all the media exposure would indicate differently, chances of getting caught in a hurricane when visiting the Caribbean are slim.

For instance, the last hurricane to hit the Dominican Republic was Jeanne in 2003, and before that Georges in 1998, before that it was David in 1979. None of these hurricanes hit the north coast of the Dominican Republic, however. But each hit a different coast of this big Caribbean island.

DR1.com is keeping a thread in its Weather & Beyond Forum to keep track of storms that may come our way. See http://www.dr1.com/forums/weather-beyond/...
