A Honeymoon Getaway

I have a friend who’s about to tie the knots, she and her boyfriend are tired of the city with all their people, the pollution, the traffic and the “fast track” life style. She asked me what should she do, her budget was very tight, so I told her “why don’t you make a small ceremony with your family and close friends and save all the money you were going to spend in the big wedding and rent a gorgeous small villa with an amazing view”? She said: “Ain’t that gonna cost me a lot?”, I said “not as much as you’ll spend in an 5 star all-inclusive hotel where you’ll be with lots of strange people around you, running to the guest service stand to make a dinner reservation for the night or even making a line to have a back massage”.

So I recommended her Casa Claridad, because when it comes to relaxing, being completely alone with your partner in an amazing quite hill top villa with a mind-blowing ocean view, maximum 10 minutes drive to most of our beaches, nightclub, and restaurants, plus has a concierge service, so you don't have to worry about organizing any excursion or services!.
Casa Claridad has all that and more… with a discreet small staff to give you freedom and privacy in every way possible. This villa makes your honeymoon dream come true! And I recommend it to you!!

Spas: Not just for the rich and famous anymore

This is the headline of the CNN website a while ago... and it is totally right! specially, if you're getting a Spa service in the Dominican Republic...

I have a bad back and while on a visit to the US. I decided to take a Swedish (Relaxing) massage and maybe have a facial. After I had my amazing massage and felt like heaven, they gave me a bill of US$160.00 and all the tension came back! the only one I thanked was God because I didn't have the facial! I don't want to know what the facial would have cost me!

The Dominican Republic offers a large group of professionals in Spa Services with amazing prices for everyone.

The people that usually stay in one of the Dominican Republic's exclusive luxury vacation villas by North Coast Management are happily surprised by how low the prices are compared to New York, Boston and other cities of the World. You don't believe me?

How about these prices:
1 hour relaxing massage US$45.00
1 hour four hands massage US$75.00
1 Facial (European skin therapy) US$70.00
1 Regular Manicure US$15.00
1 Regular Pedicure US$20.00

Do you understand now why I almost fainted when I got the bill for that ONE massage in the US that cost me US$160.00?
Here in the Dominican Republic, I could have had 1 relaxing massage, 1 facial, 1 manicure and 1 pedicure and still save US$5 bucks!!

Come and have one or all of these Spa treatments to pamper yourself while enjoying the amazing ambiance that only the North Coast of the Dominican Republic can offer you!!

What will the weather be?... and we all agree :-)

What will the weather be? September is the peak month for hurricanes in the Caribbean, and travelers are concerned about their chances for good weather.

The reality is that while September is a month with the most storms in the area, these are spread out and the number of sunny days will outnumber the rainy days. Furthermore, while all the media exposure would indicate differently, chances of getting caught in a hurricane when visiting the Caribbean are slim.

For instance, the last hurricane to hit the Dominican Republic was Jeanne in 2003, and before that Georges in 1998, before that it was David in 1979. None of these hurricanes hit the north coast of the Dominican Republic, however. But each hit a different coast of this big Caribbean island.

DR1.com is keeping a thread in its Weather & Beyond Forum to keep track of storms that may come our way. See http://www.dr1.com/forums/weather-beyond/... A Personal Concierge in your vacation

Imagine being on your vacation dream; resting on an Atlantic beach, drinking Piña Colada and suddenly you want to have a massage, but of course, you don’t want to get up, get dressed and drive to the local Spa, but you’d rather have the masseuse work you right there on the beach.

Difficult? Not at all, you just need a Concierge on your vacation!!

This person will be attending to your slightest desires. Do you want to play golf in that amazing golf course but all the morning tee times are taken and you’re flying out of the country the same day? Not a problem! The concierge will get you to play that morning! (Really, they make the impossible possible).

Do you want to propose to your girlfriend with a private romantic dinner by the sea and a duet singing romantic songs? That’s a very easy job for a concierge!

Yes, they are trained to take care of all the things you can imagine (buy a gift, reservations for dinner, massage, golf, concerts, hiring baby sitters, scheduling excursion, hiring a car, etc) and some you cannot imagine (even as unusual a request may sound a concierge makes it happen, of course, as long as it is not illegal or unethical.)

You can always rely on their confidentiality, they will never say what they saw, heard or you requested. It’s like having your best friend working for you! AND the best part is: they will be available for you 24/7!!

Next time you’re vacationing in the Dominican Republic try one of the villas in the North Coast that offer this service, you’ll feel like royalty!!

Dominican Republic's North Coast and Hurricanes

Vacation just about any place else in the Caribbean during hurricane season (Jun - Oct) and you are taking a risk. Not so on the Dominican's beautiful northern coastline. Hurricanes and the Dominican Republic, particularly the north coast, hardly ever come together.

From the dawn of time hurricanes have hurtled off Africa and South America into the Caribbean. If you go to the NOAA website, you can see how very few hurricanes have ever even come close to the north coast, much less hit it. The depths of the Puerto Rico Trench shove any incoming hurricanes to the north and those from the south are battered by the soaring mountains of the Dominican Republic (highest in the entire Caribbean).
